It saddens me that in the following day, 2NE1's goodbye song, aptly named "Goodbye", will be debuted all over the world for the Blackjacks to hear. It pains me that this happened. After seven years of worldwide popularity, the group's global domination was halted by a long hiatus, delayed or postponed album release, an eventual departure of a member and then confirming that the group will never come back even as CL, Dara Park and Park Bom are still on board after Minzy left the group.

2NE1's members, CL, Dara and Bom are recently active on Instagram. Except for CL and Minzy, Dara and Bom posted a promo image informing Blackjacks of Goodbye's release on midnight, January 21.

The song, according to Bom and Dara's post, is written by CL and composed by J Gramm and Rook Monroe.

I found a translation of the photo caption from Allkpop.com: "For me...one of the most hurtful things to say is...the phrase...good...bye..."

CL posted this on her instagram:

Minzy, despite leaving the group and now with another agency, shared a group photo expressing appreciation of the love and support in the last 7years she spent with the 3 girls. (yeah, I might be cherry picking the caption of Minzy's post, but I'd like to see this farewell as positive as possible.):

2NE1의 마지막 음원 발표 소식을 기사를 통해 알게되어, 저로선 매우 유감스럽고 안타깝지만, 일전에 2NE1의 멤버로서 대중분들과 팬 여러분들께서 주신 사랑에 대한 감사와 마지막으로 인사드리는 작별 인사의 마음은 멤버들과 동일합니다. 사랑해주셔서 진심으로 감사드리고 우리 멤버들 CL언니, BOM언니, 다라언니 그리고 저, 모두 앞으로 펼쳐 나갈 활동에도 많은 관심과 따뜻한 응원 부탁드립니다❤️#2NE1#Fourever #Goodbye It's a shame that I had to find out 2NE1 will be releasing their final album through a news article. This is very unfortunate as I was previously a member of the group 2NE1, but I share the same feelings as the other members in wanting to show appreciation and bid farewell to everyone for all their love and support of 2NE1. I am truly grateful and sincerely appreciate all the love 2NE1 received and hope for your extended love and support as the members continue on in their individual careers. Thank you.

Earlier this morning after seeing Minzy's post and the promotional pic from Bom's and Dara's IG accounts, led me to ask "Will Minzy be part of the single?" After all it makes sense that she might. She was a part of the quartet, her face is on the promotional poster. But after a quick Google research, my hopes for a final 2NE1-complete single were drizzled cold when Minzy herself confirmed that she's not part of the soon-to-be released Goodbye single. 😢😢

To be honest I don't keep tabs on 2NE1 updates, news, solo activities. I just like their music. So, I am not fully aware of the ins and outs of the breakup, the plans to launch a farewell single, the shades thrown, etc. etc. All I know is that they broke up as a band. Why I included Minzy in the picture above and her IG post? Well the 2NE1 I know is a four-member band, thus, she's included in this post.

REMINISCING

This group became a part of my life when they debuted 8 years ago, when I was a 17-year old junior college student. That was during the boom of Korean pop music in the Philippines, six years after the Korean Hallyu invaded our TV screens with their modern, light-hearted and culture-themed Tv series. I remember seeing their unconventional (at least compared to the Pinoy music videos) MVs, their far from the normal fashion, and the danceable beat of their first single "Fire". I can distinctly remember that I often hear the speakers sold along Avenida while I was on my way to university blasting the "Eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh 2NE1" or the "Na mi mi mi mi mi mi michigo shippeo". Gee, imagine the immature me, imitating the words of that song without understanding any of it. Much more, I was not sure if I spout the correct words!

Sandara Park's inclusion in the group added to my then-rising fascination with this non-Filipino group. Dara is a well-loved celebrity in my country. The Pinoy show business is not new to foreign-looking, but artistahin people. We got a lot of that in the industry. Dara just so happen have that consistent charisma that even if she leaves and comes back to the country, she will always be welcomed as part of the Filipino family.

Now back to 2NE1, this group's appeal pleased me so much that I started listening to all their songs, searched about them all over the internet, watched their MVs and even tried to sing their songs following a Romanized version of the lyrics! I've never been this kind of fan until my most favorite musician, Michael Jackson passed away .

But I have to accept the fact that this is the end; the conclusion to a seven-year Nolza life for me. A new but final group single, "Goodbye" will be released by midnight. A song that will make Blackjack fans worldwide happy because they can hear three of the four 2NE1 members sing together again, and sadness at the same time knowing that it is the last time that these three girls will be singing side by side. Only the old 2NE1 songs will make each BlackJack remember each members' voices as 2NE1.

After this day, 2NE1 will be permanently and irrevocably disbanded. Acceptance is a key to moving on. Each of them will have their own solo careers. The best thing that fans can do is wish them luck. The next best thing is to continue to support them. And the bestest thing is to remember how they started and how they have evolved to what they are today.

I don't think I can find an equal Korean global bad-ass girl group after this. Leader CL, Main vocal Bom, fresh vocal Dara, maknae Minzy, anyeong! 😃😊😊😊😢😢😢😢😢
